The New Studio

As a portrait photographer my dream was to get a photography studio. It just so happens that my dream came true twice. The first studio was created quiet a while ago at our first residence in Virginia. After moving to Fort Washington, Maryland a photography studio was on my mind, once again. Towards the end of 2020 my wish finally came true, for the second time. We converted our two car garage in a spacious and bright studio and I could not be more ecstatic.

The new photography studio is now located 25 minutes outside downtown Washington DC and about 10 minutes away from Old Town Alexandria.

Before our garage was transformed I still took portraits in a “studio fashion” in our lower level space of the house and while the space was great, the ceiling hight was not. Now I get to extend my lights and create freely without restrictions in 14 feet hight and I still get to use the lower part of the home, but this time as a lounging area to where clients or their guests can relax and kick back.

It may sound silly, but my favorite feature of the studio is the mini fridge. Stocking it up before every session excites me almost as much as getting into the creative process of creating portraits :).

One thing I absolutely love about a home based studio from my perspective is the fact that there is no commute. From clients perspective there are good reasons, too. The studio is located in a modest, quiet and safe neighborhood just 25 minutes away from Washington DC, 10 minutes from Old Town Alexandria, always free and easy to find parking; right on my driveway :), and of course the studio offers all the amenities and endless possibilities to create.
